DDP (Delivered Duty Paid) is the most hands-off shipping term: NorthLine pays import duties and taxes, clears customs, and delivers goods to your door — no surprise fees, no dealing with local authorities. It is ideal for importers who want a predictable landed cost.

What DDP is

Under DDP, the seller/forwarder is responsible for delivering goods cleared for import, with duties and taxes prepaid. The buyer simply receives the goods. This shifts compliance and cost risk to the logistics provider.

Why choose DDP

  • Predictable landed cost — no hidden duty bills
  • No local broker or importer setup needed
  • Faster clearance with prepaid taxes
  • Easier for new importers and e-commerce brands

How DDP shipping works

  1. Share cargo and delivery details; we classify HS codes.
  2. We quote including freight, duty and tax estimate.
  3. Goods ship; we prepay import duty/tax at destination.
  4. Cleared cargo is delivered to your door.

Where DDP works best

DDP is especially popular for the US, UK, EU, Canada, Australia, UAE, Saudi Arabia and Singapore, where prepaid duty simplifies importing for small and mid-size buyers. Availability depends on local import rules — confirm in your quote.

Frequently asked questions

Is DDP more expensive than DDU?+
The freight portion is similar, but DDP includes prepaid duty and tax in the price, so the quoted total is usually higher yet fully predictable.
Who is the importer of record under DDP?+
We coordinate through a local entity or licensed broker so you do not need to register as importer in most cases. We confirm per destination.
Can DDP be combined with FBA?+
Yes — DDP to Amazon FBA is a common setup so inventory lands duty-paid and ready for inbound.
